21212 – Identification of a luxurious hotel in Edinburgh
Standing proudly at the rear of the Carlton Hill in the majestic Georgian style, 21212 is actually the identity of a royal as well as sophisticated restaurant offering not only meals, but also rooms. It is one of its kinds in the United Kingdom’s Edinburgh in which the striking Georgian structural pattern suits with its kitchen match. It is incredible that the restaurant has been rewarded with a Michelin star in just eight months after its inauguration – the credit surely goes to the chefs who cook up at the rear of a Perspex display. As a guest, you will admire its tranquil and spacious interiors that are simply ideal for a dining room. This architectural rich hotel is nestled on the Royal Terrace of Edinburgh by the Playhouse and at the hill’s foot making a perfect sight to spot the monumental sights in the city.
Facilities
Speaking about its rooms, they are 4 in number. The rate ranges from £250 to £325 that includes the tax charges as well as the breakfast. Among the amenities, you can expect free WiFi, CD/DVD player, iPod dock, free bottled water, and the bath items from Elemis. The check-out time is 12 pm, while the check-in time is 2 pm by the earliest.
Regarding children, the hotel allows entry to children above six years of age. So, toddlers below six are certainly not allowed here. However, the restaurant has made no efforts in planning for a special menu for the children. Might be, that’s their next upcoming feature. Need to find or suggest that!
Note: The hotel will be closed from 1st to 6th September in 2010.
Rooms
You need to take a decision in this regard, but need some basis on that, right? In case of 21212, this skill should be used by keeping in mind the varying inclinations towards the vistas as well as bathrooms. If you consider the rooms spread on the third floor, they are adorned with big Spanish showers, powerful oval-shaped tubs for bath, and dual sinks. On the fourth floor, the two bedrooms offer wet rooms. In short, you can either opt for a garden view or a bathroom look.
Restaurant
Undoubtedly, the restaurant here is the hero of the hotel. It is where the secret behind the numeric name of the hotel is hidden. 21212 is actually derived from its menu plan – three courses in which you have two choices, two in which you are offered one. The chefs daily start making all the mouth watering combinations at the rear of a perspex screen beating the dishes with unique set of tastes and making use of all healthy items like banana as well as cucumber, currants, peanuts, celeriac rice, saffron, basil leaves, yoghurt, and onion sauce. The entire dining room is adorned with the elegant chandelier.
Want to know which type of attire will glow on you? Well, it can be considered impolite if you do not scrub up. After all, this is a restaurant in a celebrated building. Scrubbing is the only thing to take care of here. Rest, anything bright will look rich here. Looking for a memorable table? Ok, check out for that as per the group. If you belong to a huge group say until 10 people, go for the big dining room nestled on the first storey. However, for groups smaller than six or so, the Pod is the best place to dine, which is a cozy round space adorned with an impressive Caravaggio digital print as the wallpaper.

The leisurely breakfast timings begin from 8:00 am and culminate at 10.30 am, while the lunch timings are from 12:00 pm to 1:45 pm. For dinner, you are welcomed anytime between 7:00 pm and 9.30 pm. Room service is given here too, but it does not deliver any kind of food until the bedrooms.
Tip: Carry a pair of binoculars to admire the hill and the sights in the city.
